New to the Tweed

July 20, 2024 — May 10, 2025
New to the Tweed highlights a selection of recent acquisitions (2020 – 2024) that reflect the museum’s collecting vision and strategies.
Tweed Museum of Art is committed to acquiring works that expand the range of art and artists held in its collection. These works offer opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching and collaborative learning and contribute to the museum’s practice of presenting challenging, surprising, intellectually rigorous, and joyful encounters with art and artists across time and space.
Gifts and endowed funds enable the Tweed to acquire art that diversifies the collection—including works by living and underrepresented artists, areas of growth for the museum. The generosity of new and longstanding donors also supports the museum’s commitment to amplify the work of contemporary Indigenous artists, especially those with connections to the traditional, ancestral, and contemporary lands upon which the University of Minnesota campuses now stand.
This presentation commences a program of regularly announcing and sharing new acquisitions with campus and community audiences.
