The Ceramics Collection has been rapidly evolving since former UMD professor of art Glenn Nelson’s donation of global studio ceramic art in 1991. Nelson left a bequest, called the Glenn C. Nelson Ceramics Purchase Fund, to be used for purchasing ceramics, which allows the museum to continue to collect prominent artists. Annually, the Tweed Museum purchases art from many national and international ceramicists.
