In recent years, the Tweed Museum has expanded its photography collection by acquiring both early and contemporary photographs. Since 2005, many gifts and purchases by contemporary photographers have brought the Tweed’s photography collection to over 1,500 artworks. The Tweed’s collection includes some early daguerreotypes and chromolithographs by William Henry Jackson, as well as photographs by Henri Cartier Bresson, Dorothea Lange, Robert Mapplethorpe, Kara Walker.
