A wide shot of an art exhibition.

As a collecting and teaching museum, the Tweed Museum of Art creates innovative exhibitions and programs in the visual arts that reflect the cultures, histories, and aspirations of people from all over the world. With over 10,000 artworks in the permanent collection, many exhibitions are collections-based and highlight various themes or mediums. An important objective of the museum’s exhibitions and programs is to address politically and socially relevant issues by incorporating the diverse interests and knowledge of our communities, such as faculty, staff, and students at UMD and other colleges, K-12 school teachers, and audiences.
